Sneak Peak ~ the Habit Spring '13 Lookbook

It was a cold, blustery day (as in, about 6 days ago) when we pulled together our dream head-to-toe outfits from the shop for the Spring '13 Lookbook. We had sunshine on our minds but nary a blooming flower in sight, so we took over the center city home of totally fab friend and WILLED Spring to get here already. Apparently it worked - yeah '75-degrees-and-sunny-all-week' we're looking at you!

Vintage Glam

Samantha Wills Spring collection, Hunter+Gatherer, is in house! Love that Cameo Lover Necklace with antiqued polishing and a stand out turquoise stone. The Desert Serenade Bracelet Set (below) is packed with pretty pops of pink while the dalmatian stone compliments the Aalliyah Earrings for a bold elegance that flows through the entire collection...

But wait, there's more! Crystal encrusted Stepping Stone Ring, Bohemian Duster Earrings, and Dynasty Bangle bring out the glam like nobodies business. 

Peek A Boo

Our first caspsule selection from Maison Scotch's spring collection arrived yesterday. Several fun & cheery print blouses, a few easy to wear dresses and an A-May-Zing twill jacket gave us the feeling of seeing spring flowers pop out of the ground for the first time. Warmer days ahead ladies! Until then, this looks fierce under the fleece.

FNO Bash!

Just Hit Pause

Continuing throughout the month of May, the whimsical work of She Hit Pause Studios will be on display and available for purchase in shop.

Founded in 2002 by Brooklyn based artist, Matt Schwartz, She Hit Pause Studios creates dreamlike images of girls, surf culture and vintage finds using large format poloroids, which are pulled apart and transferred onto watercolor paper.

Matt has quite the fanbase and has worked with and been featured by Daily Candy, W Magazine, New York Magazine, Nylon, Billabong and Refinery29 just to name a few.

Hit pause on your normal routine and come see Matt's work for yourself....

 

 

Daydream Believer

 

Ever notice the dreamlike polaroid printsthat adorn the walls at Third Street Habit? 

They all stem from the travels and obsessions of Brooklyn-based photographer Matt Schwartz. His gorgeous images travel under the aptly named She Hit Pause Studios - and for the month of May his entire collection of prints will be on display (and available for purchase!)in shop.

Finally ... the 1st day of Fall!

So many great shipments arrived this week, including new styles from Isabel Marant's Etoile line, and our British love, Jas M.B. The crackled leather messenger that he sent across the pond is such a great size - not too big or small, super light-weight, and the texture is great for any outfit. New Etoile pieces include the gorgeous printed dress and this soft denim jumper - which happens to be quite sexy in a utilitarian sort of way. It's easy to wear, flattering and quite versatile.

In a desperate attempt to ignore the 97 degree heat today, we cobbled together our September mood board. Two strong statements emerged - one depicting a colorful, textured bohémienne, the other a bit of a rocker, all tousled hair and nostalgia. We love both looks and the mood board has us swooning over the current Habit inventory all over again. Mood board and a few current rails of styles shown above and below.

Of course, this season, both of these ladies rock the military trend!

Many thanks to the stylish ladies who braved heat, humidity and monsoons to attend Cocktails & Cutoffs. A great time was had and some killer denim flew out the doors.

THIS evening, Genetic Denim & The Philadelphia Junior League are hosting Cocktails & Cutoffs - a summertime trunkshow featuring great deals and great cocktails for a great cause. Stop by for breezy summer denim and cool off with TyKu's specialty summer cocktail, lemonade & citrus liquor.

Her timeless collection uses precious metals, semi-precious stones, pearls and leather, and has gained a cult following internationally. Most popular is her iconic Wrap Bracelet, which features various metals and semi-precious stones hand woven into greek leather and meant to be wrapped 5 times on the wrist or worn as a necklace. 

Join us this Saturday as we kick off the summer with a Chan Luu Trunkshow! Sort through an extensive collection of necklaces, earrings, wrap bracelets, viscose and cashmere scarves; all pieces selected with the summer season in mind. Enjoy one day only discounts all accessories (from all designers!) while sipping on mimosas and indulging in cupcakes from Buttercream Cupcake Truck!

Kate, aka the Cupcake Lady, parks Buttercream Cupcake truck at various locations in center city, and this Saturday, she will be parked right on our doorstep!! Street Scene - Old City's Sidewalk Sale

Old City, Philadelphia is chock full of history & innovation, art & commerce, grit & charm. Best of all, it's a great district to shop - especially this time of year. If you are in the Philadelphia area this weekend, head to Old City for our neighborhood-wide Sidewalk Sale! More than 50 shops and galleries will be selling fun & frugal wares on the streets, with special shows & promotions going on inside of our shops as well. There will be live music all weekend, and you'll find a coffee shop on every block.

This Saturday, May 15th and Sunday, May 16th. Your best bet is to wander 3rd street from Race to Market, then back up 2nd street. Third Street Habit's Sale inspiration this year is Beach Season - we will be selling colorful, vintage tunics, scarves & bags at super sale prices, as well as summer sandals and jewelry. Ever wonder where Habitude gets our cheeky outdoor photos? (No? that's ok.) We walk out the front door, onto North 3rd Street.

N. 3rd is home to the most impressive collection of independent fashion, art & design businesses in all of Philadelphia. A mere three blocks houses more than 20 clothing and accessories boutiques, as well as multiple art galleries, modern and vintage furniture galleries, salons and gourmet coffee shops. Here you will find truly progressive art, design and fashion, all nestled among historic landmarks of Americana.

Collectively, the independently owned & operated businesses of this street have garnered more than 100 design and fashion awards. We have been featured in Travel & Leisure, New York Times, Nylon, Lucky and Vogue Magazines. Daily Candy is our almost daily friend.

Stroll the street sometime this season, and pick up some truely fabulous wares for yourself, your nearest and your dearest. Street parking is plentiful, and there is always a great trunk show, promotion or sale going on somewhere on the street.

There are Treasures Just Out Back ...

Wandering around the Shop this morning and we realized; the SALE racks rock! 

We had our big Warehouse Sale recently but a few hidden jems remained. A quick perusal of the racks reveals super cute party dresses, luxe lightweight knits and a few killer plaid tops that will get a ton of play in the Fall. Of course there are summer tops galore and a few chambry dresses, perfect for the lazy month of August. All items marked down 50 - 80% ...

First Fridays in the Summer ...

On the First Friday of every month, Old City art galleries and retail shops stay open late, often in celebration of new collections and exhibits. Musicians and street vendors line the streets of the oldest neighborhood in Philadelphia, and parking is free after 5 pm.

Third Street Habit will be open until 10 pm on the First Friday of each month, starting this evening. Stop on By ...
